Siraj Sirajuddin visited and spoke with Agile-Carolinas yesterday evening. And said many useful things.
One thing he said that was particularly helpful was a variation on the classic one: people don't resist change, they resist being changed.
Well, closer to what Siraj said was this: The organization has a dream of where it wants to be in 1 or 2 or 3 years. The imagined future state. And if, as a change agent, you take the time to respect and understand their dream, then they will feel respected. And feeling respected, they are much more likely to let you (the change agent) influence them. If you ask, they will say 'yes, we would like to hear about your tools that will help us realize our dream.'
